Automotive Skills Queensland was formed to ensure the ongoing strength and development of the automotive industry in Queensland.

As part of this it provides information and resources to all levels of the automotive industry, including industry reports, fact sheets and helpful tips.

It consults with the automotive industry bodies and its members as to the current needs, issues and opportunities effecting workplace planning and retention.

Industry Skills and Workforce Development Report August 2011

This sector is vital to the smooth running of the Queensland economy as it is concerned with the sales, service, maintenance and repair of the 3.4 million registered vehicles on the roads in Queensland.

This report provides leadership for the automotive retail, service and repair industry on matters relating to skill and training needs by:

  • Identifying current and future skills priorities;
  • Developing strategic workforce plans to assist the industry to meet those needs; and
  • Promoting training that will meet those needs of employers and employees.

National Code of Good Practice for Australian Apprenticeships

Australian Apprenticeships, which may be referred to as apprenticeships and traineeships in some States and Territories, offer many benefits to employers and Australian Apprentices. Employers can take on an Australian Apprentice who is trained to understand the specific requirements of their workplace and has the skills that match their business objectives. Australian Apprentices have the chance to gain valuable work experience, develop skills and acquire a nationally recognised qualification.
